Dining Room and Entry Renovation
Brookwater, Q
The client's request for this dining room and entry renovation was to completely transform the space into a more modern, lighter area that is practical and easy to maintain. The main goal was to create a WOW factor in the entry and a dining space that could be used more frequently for meals. To achieve this, the design focused on incorporating elements that would enhance brightness and a contemporary feel. Lighter colors, sleek furniture, and ample lighting fixtures were chosen to create the desired ambiance. In addition, durable materials were selected to ensure easy maintenance and longevity.
We started by painting the walls in a subtly warm shade of white, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The room itself is spacious, and we made a change to the layout by positioning the dining table perpendicular to the front wall. We opted for a 3-meter long table, which now runs along the length of the side wall. This new arrangement not only allows for more room during family gatherings but also effectively fills the space, creating a harmonious balance, as well as encouraging the family to use it on a regular basis.
The wooden live-edge table, along with the matching buffet, brings a sense of warmth and character to the room. To enhance the ambiance, we removed the crystal chandelier that was originally positioned above the dining table and replaced it with three organic shaped pendant lights, in the new position. This change creates a more intimate dining experience, perfect for cosy gatherings. Additionally, we incorporated LED downlights to provide adequate task lighting whenever needed. The combination of the natural wooden elements, the organic pendant lights, and the functional downlights add a touch of elegance and functionality to the space.
To further enhance the overall design, we decided to make use of two of the old pots and incorporated new artificial bird of paradise plants into them. In order to achieve a harmonious balance within the room and its high ceilings, we also introduced two new large pots filled with beautiful traveller palms. To tie everything together, we included accents of black, green, and gold in the artwork and decor. This combination of colours adds a touch of elegance and cohesiveness to the entire room.
The end result is a beautiful and functional dining room that not only meets the client's requirements but also enhances the overall aesthetic of the home.
